Gilbert Saenz Obituary
Loving companion to Anita Walters. Dearest brother to late Josephine Niz, late John Lopez, late Julia (Jack) Sullivan, late Steve (Sylvia) Saenz, late Valentine (Roberta) Saenz, late Robert Saenz, late Mary Lou (Rick) Robinson, Rudolph (Fran) Saenz, and Alice (Victor) Poertner. He was also well loved by many nieces and nephews.
Gilbert early in his life served in the United States of America Air Force. Once he was honorably discharged, he moved back home to Michigan and earned a degree in English Literature from Wayne State University. He was poetic and enjoyed listening and singing to music. He had multiple books published, which he was incredibly proud of. Gilbert was a computer analyst for IRS as well.
He will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Melvindale, MI.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. Allen Park, MI 48101. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 19624 Wood St, Melvindale, MI 48122. He will lie in state at 10:30 am.

Gil was an amiable companion and affectionate friend who taught me the meaning of a querido. We enjoyed talking, dining, and traveling together for some 16 years. We enjoyed each others families and happy times together. We shared prayers and poetry with many mutual friends. How I will miss him!
