Gilbert Hans Wohlk

Gilbert Hans Wohlk, age 88 of Almena passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Monroe Manor in Barron, WI. He was born April 10, 1937 in Almena, WI to Christ and Wilhemine (Miller) Wohlk.
He was married in New Scandinavia Church on September 18,1965 to Donna Rasmussen, who preceded him in death on January 21st of this year.
Gilbert graduated from Turtle Lake High School in the Class of 1955, and following high school he worked on the family farm, and building barns, sheds, and silos. He farmed for many years with Calvin, beginning in 1959 and finishing in 1992, at which time began farming with Glen. He and Glen would work together until 1999.
In 1999 he quit milking cows, and slowly transitioned to his role as "supervisor". Even after said retirement, he remained quite active on the farm, always chasing the action and helping with feeding and field work. Gil never turned down a good BS session in the barn.
When he was able to sneak away from the farm, he enjoyed trips via car or plane to Oregon to visit Nancy and family. He also loved to hunt during trips to Colorado and Minnesota. He was an avid deer hunter in his time, but decided to stop after enjoying it for 70 years.
In his retirement years, Gilbert could be found in the woods on the Gator and spending countless hours at local high school basketball games at the top of the bleachers with his buddy, Jim. In addition, he remained an active member at St. Matthew Lutheran Church as elder trustee, and dartball team member.
Gilbert could be a quiet man, but he was always up to shoot the breeze. He will be remembered as the best dad, whose family was very important to him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenelle (Joseph) Misselt of Eau Claire; sisters, Elaine Schoenhals of Rice Lake and Nancy (Dean) Laube of Jefferson, OR; sister-in-laws, Jeanette Wohlk, Carol Solie, Joyce Kringle, and Lenore (Dennis) Robinson; brother-in-laws, Larry (Toni) Rasmussen, Warren (Debbie) Rasmussen; as well as other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Gil was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Wohlk; parents, Christ and Wilhemine Wohlk; parent-in-laws, Henry and Esther Rasmussen; brothers, Calvin and Vernon Wohlk; sister, Leona Mielke; brother-in-laws, George Schoenhals, Clifford Solie, Don Kringle, and Donald Rasmussen; and sister-in-laws, Delores Wohlk and Mary Ann Rasmussen.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 26, 2025 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Almena with Pastor Ike Nicholson officiating. Interment will be held at St. Matthew cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
