Gilberta Andrade Cabral, 72, of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 after a brief but courageous battle with advanced cancer. She was born on April 5, 1952 in Feteira Pequena, Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Azores, and was the daughter of the late Jose and Cecilia Cabral. She immigrated to the United States at age 16 with her family. She worked hard her entire life, most recently at New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home for the past 29 years, and previously at Calvin Clothing. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Jose Duarte. She is survived by her brother, Alberto “Burger” Andrade, who she lived with for many years and will feel her absence profoundly, as well as her beloved niece and godchild Stephanie (Andrade) Kacik of Clinton CT, her husband Ed, their children Eddie and Whitney, many cousins, and several dear friends. Gilberta was a kind woman with a heart of gold. She was happiest when surrounded by family and is fondly remembered by her niece, great-niece, great-nephew, and several cousins for the part she played in making their childhood magical. She will forever be missed. Visitation will occur at Boulevard Funeral Home on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 5-8pm.
