Mrs. Gillerene "Gilly" Samons Bryant, age 82, of Douglas, Georgia passed away Thursday afternoon, August 7, 2025 at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Bryant was born August 5, 1943 in Martin, Kentucky to the late Gilbert Samons and the late Helen Rickman Samons. She graduated from high school in Atkinson County and went on to become a skilled beautician and a dedicated homemaker. Mrs. Bryant is survived by her loving husband of more than 13 years, Robert Stanford Bryant of Douglas, Georgia; a son, Johnny Murphree of California; a brother, Oscar Samons of Kentucky; 2 sisters: Grace Hall and Penny Samons of Kentucky; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mrs. Bryant's family will receive friends at Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM – Noon. Her funeral will be held at 12:00 Noon in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Hattaway officiating. Interment will follow in Utah Cemetery in Atkinson County, Georgia. Condolences, kind words and fond memories may be shared with Mrs. Bryant's family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com. Mrs. Bryant's arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
