James Dotson Bryant

James "Jimmy" Dotson Bryant, age 55, of Jay, Oklahoma, passed away August 5, 2025. Jimmy was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on October 8, 1969, to James and Evelyn Bryant, who preceded him in death. A proud graduate of Fayetteville High School's Class of 1988, he was a multi-sport athlete-playing basketball and running cross country with a competitive spirit that carried into every chapter of his life. Jimmy married the love of his life, Kim Bryant, on October 9, 1992. Jimmy spent 15 years working as a master electrician, but his true calling was always found in the saddle. A lifelong horseman, Jimmy made a name for himself as an American Quarter Horse Association Professional Horseman and a respected trainer. He was a craftsman in every sense of the word and also enjoyed working as a silversmith, building bits and spurs. In 1997, Jimmy earned a spot among the Top 10 at the United States Team Roping Championship and in 2004, he was honored as the American Quarter Horse Association Rookie of the Year. Jimmy never met a horse he couldn't teach or a friend he wouldn't help. His stories were legendary, his advice hard-earned, and his laugh unforgettable. He is survived by his wife, Kim Bryant; son, Cody Arnold; and daughter, Jimmie Bryant. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Sandra Latimer; and three sisters-Linda Scott, Laura Kelly, and Eva Chapman. A celebration of life will be held August 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm at First Christian Church in Grove, OK, where friends and family are invited to share stories, swap cowboy tales, and honor Jimmy Bryant's legacy of grit, humor and horsemanship.
