Ginger Shuford Ansell was born on February 17, 1951, in Columbia, South Carolina to parents Pauline Youngblood Shuford and Calvin Howard Shuford. From an early age, Ginger distinguished herself academically and socially, becoming valedictorian of her high school graduating class and leading countless clubs and associations, including serving as editor of the student newspaper.
Ginger studied law at Georgetown University, graduating with honors in 1980. Afterwards, she practiced as an attorney at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Washington, D.C., where she received numerous awards for outstanding performance and met her husband, David Ansell. They married on May 5, 1985, and raised two sons, Benson and Jacob. Their marriage was a true partnership, defined by seamlessly complementing each other's personalities.
Throughout her life, Ginger earned many admirers through her passions and interests. She was an exceptional cook and hostess, crossword puzzle connoisseur, Jeopardy! maven, travel enthusiast, and lover of all creatures great and small - especially her beloved Westie, Brodie. She was proud to be a volunteer with the charitable organization, Arlington Thrive, as well as a precinct captain in the Arlington Democrats. Above all, those who knew Ginger recognized her sharp wit, ceaseless hospitality, and instinctual drive to serve her family, friends, and community. She loved deeply and was deeply loved.
She is survived by her husband David Lloyd Ansell; sons Benson Samuel Ansell and Jacob Michael Ansell; and siblings Stephen Howard Shuford, Cynthia Shuford Beckham, and Sally Marie Shuford.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 7 at 10:30 am at Temple Rodef Shalom, 2100 Westmoreland Street, Falls Church, Virginia 22043. The service will be livestreamed on the Temple website at this time, which you can watch here: https://www.templerodefshalom.org/live/
Following the service and burial, there will be a mourner's meal at the home of David Ansell, 4027 27th Road North, Arlington, VA 22207. At the same address, shiva will be held on Saturday, February 8 from 5-8 pm, with a short service at 5:30 pm.

Dear Ansell family, I co-own Sun & Moon Yoga Studio, where Ginger was a longtime and beloved member of our community for many years. I can picture her so clearly arriving for class with a big smile. We are so saddened to hear that she has passed, and we send you big hugs and compassionate light. May her memory be a blessing.

I am saddened to hear the news about Mrs. Ginger, she was a very great friend who I've known for 30 years. She was like family, and we loved each other like family. She will be missed dearly. My condolences to the family, Mr. David, Ben, Jacob and more.

Ginger was such a lovely person who I've known for 25 years. When I took care of Brodie we would always laugh. We would talk about how our lives were going, how our kids and families were doing and she would give me the warmest of hugs! My condolences to the family, her husband David, and children, Ben and Jacob.
