Virginia "Ginny" Wise Brennaman-Barger, 76, of
Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025. Ginny's life will be honored with services at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, 312 Washington Street,
Frankfort, Kentucky, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Justin Kurtz officiating. The committal service will immediately follow at the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A remembrance gathering will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Memories Event Venue, 811 Louisville Road,
Frankfort, Kentucky. She was born on May 4, 1949, in
Frankfort, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Ada Cleveland Wise and Clarence Wallace Wise. A lifelong resident of Frankfort, Ginny lived her entire life in the community she loved. Following her graduation from Franklin County High School in 1967, she studied nursing at the University of Kentucky. Ginny spent her early career as a surgical nurse but later found her true calling in animal care. She served as the director of the Franklin County Humane Society, before devoting more than twenty years of her career to Bevins Animal Hospital. Her passion for animals and their welfare touched countless lives. Ginny was married for many years to her beloved husband, Raymond Barger. The two shared many cherished years together, enjoying life's simple pleasures and creating memories with their family. Ginny will be remembered for her love of animals of all kinds, her joy of having family gather at her house to swim, trips to the beach, listening to Neil Diamond, and taking long walks. Her kind spirit and deep compassion made her mom and Nanny to many beyond her own children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Barger; her children, Jennifer Peters (Rob) and Doug Brennaman (Sherry); step children, Brandon Barger and Jennifer Barger; grandchildren, Blake Springman (Odessa), Jamie Peters, and Delaney Peters; and great-grandchildren, Harrison and Kinlee. Ginny is also remembered with love by numerous cousins, whom she considered more like brothers and sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by other extended family members who held a special place in her life. Pallbearers will be Blake Springman, Nicholas Dennis, Jon Sexton, Harlan Owens, David Wimer, and Douglas Fallis. Honorary pallbearers include Jesse Church Penn, Tom Cleveland, Eleanor Penn, Glenda Penn, Tillie Coomer, Sally Whitmore, Jayne Wise, Ted Wise, Debbie Wise Barr, Brandon Barger, and Linda Christeon.
