"Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." - John 5:24
Gislene Balisage was a beautiful woman who brought a great amount of joy to those around her. She was a loving person who cared deeply and left a remarkable imprint on the hearts of those she came in contact with. Although she was a quiet person, her presence was very powerful and captivating. Over the past few days, we have received so much love from her friends and family. Without a doubt, we can all attest that her life was not in vain. She was an Angel.
Gislene Balisage was born in Haiti on April 16, 1967 in Grand Moulin du Buson. She was raised in Saint Marc, Haiti. Gislene is the fourth child born to her parents, the late Clermelie Saint-Elot and Elibreuil Balisage. She completed her high school education at Coutuliere High School in Haiti. Gislene enjoyed cooking and dreamed of becoming a great chef one day.
In 1995, Gislene and her eldest son, Jeff Raoul left Haiti to join her family in the United States. She resided with her parents and brothers in
Roanoke, Virginia. Shortly after relocating, Gislene worked very hard to have her husband, Sergo Raoul, join her in America. Once her husband moved from Haiti; Gislene, her husband, along with their son, Jeff moved to New Jersey. Later on, Gislene would give birth to three other children, Chrisneika, Alisha, and Jordan whom she loved dearly. She spent her life raising her four children. She wanted the best for them. She instilled in them the love of God. Despite becoming ill, Gislene made it her priority to be there for her children the best way that she could. "I remember when my mother came to my Christmas school play in 8th grade. Despite being sick at the time, she walked to the school with Jordan and Alisha just to see me. This made me happy because sometimes my parents did not always have time to see me at school events. I will forever cherish this memory of my mother's love for me"
Gislene held many jobs while living in New Jersey. Prior to becoming ill, Gislene worked her last job as a housekeeper at CareOne at Wall in
Wall Township, NJ from 2005-2018. She took pride in her work as it allowed her to provide for her children. Gislene was a woman of faith and loved God. She was a devout member of the Ebenezer Church of God of Prophecy for many years. We can remember growing up, she would always spend her time going to weekly church services; she participated in the church choir, and would open up her home for members who wanted to come pray with her. She held on to her faith in Christ despite what the doctors told her. Cancer never seemed to have an effect on who she was as a person. She remained happy and met every battle with a smile. She was resilient. She trusted in God for her healing. As a believer, Gislene fought a good fight. Even in her death, SHE WON.
On the evening of July 7, 2023, Gislene Balisage passed away in her home and went to her permanent home with the Lord. She spent her final days on earth amongst her children who took care of all of her needs. They loved on her and stayed by her side. She spent her time listening to prayers and worship music. She was at peace and felt the love of her family and friends who visited her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clermelie Saint-Elot, Elibreuil Balisage, and her brother, Wisler Balisage. She leaves to mourn her beloved children; Jeff Raoul, Chrisneika Raoul, Alisha Raoul, and Jordan Raoul. She also leaves to mourn, The Balisage Family and The Raoul Family. She was loved by many, and her memory lives on through each and every one of you. We will never forget her loving nature. Gislene Balisage, you can now rest in God's arms, free of all pain.
