Giuseppe Commisso Obituary

Giuseppe "Joe" Commisso 1946 - 2022 West Springfield Giuseppe "Joe" Commisso 76, passed away at his home on October 29, 2022; surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, he was a son of the late Antonio R. and Marianna (Parisi) Commisso; and resided in West Springfield the last ten years. He retired after ten years as a school bus driver for the town of East Longmeadow Public School System . Previously, Joe owned and operated his own business, Commisso's Market in Sunderland for eight years; and had been a meat cutter for Stop & Shop Supermarkets for many years prior to that. Joe enjoyed exercising ; especially daily walks with his sister, Gerri. He enjoyed Tuesday mornings having coffee with his cousin Joe at Dunkin Donuts. He loved Italian cooking. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Joe was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Springfield. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his sister Teresa Adornato; two brothers in law, Dom Yacovone and John Adornato. Joe leaves to cherish his memory , his two sisters, Rose Ieraci and her husband Joe,of Springfield, Geraldine Yacovone of West Springfield; his partner of 22 years, Linda Siciliano; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. The family wish to extend a very sincere thank you to Baystate Hospice for their care and compassion. Friends may gather from 9:00AM- 11:00AM,Thursday (November 3, 2022) at the Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 11:00AM. A procession for a Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00Noon in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield.
