Gladis Garcia, a cherished matriarch whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, in Boston, MA at 76 years of age.
Born on December 21, 1948, in San Miguel, El Salvador, she was a cherished daughter to the late Benito Garcia and Angela Ventura. Her journey led her to the love of her life, Jose Zelaya. Gladis was the devoted mother of Cecilia Gonzalez, Juan Perez, Evelyn Perez, and America Aguilar, instilling in them the values of love and family. Gladis was a beacon of love for her 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Gladis's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family. She dedicated her professional life to childcare, working with children and teaching them the early life skills they individually needed. She loved children and treated each one as if they were her own, leaving an indelible mark on countless young lives.
Her passion for life was evident in her interests. Gladis was an active member of the Logos de Dios Church. She also loved to sing, her voice was always uplifting to those who heard her reciting her favorite hymns and songs. She was also the heart of her family's culinary experiences, often inviting family members to share in her delicious home-cooked meals. Her home was a hub of warmth and hospitality, a testament to her role as the family's matriarch.
Gladis's love for her family knew no bounds. She was always calling and checking in on her loved ones, ensuring they felt her care and support no matter the distance. Her loving, kind, and thoughtful nature was the cornerstone of her being, qualities that those who knew her will carry forward in her honor.

Family and friends will honor Gladis's life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home ~ North Shore Chapel, 10 Chestnut Street, Peabody on Friday, March 28th from 10:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M. A prayer service will be held at 12:00 Noontime. Services will conclude with Gladis being laid to rest at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Peabody.

Nacida el 21 de diciembre de 1948 en San Miguel, El Salvador, fue una querida hija de los difuntos Benito García y Ángela Ventura. Su camino la condujo al amor de su vida, José Zelaya. Gladis fue la devota madre de Cecilia González, Juan Pérez, Evelyn Pérez y América Aguilar, a quien inculcó los valores del amor y la familia. Gladis fue un ejemplo de amor para sus nueve nietos y cuatro bisnietos, cada uno de los cuales le brindó una inmensa alegría.

Familiares y amigos honrarán la vida de Gladis reuniéndose en el Hogar Conmemorativo de la Familia Ruggiero ~ Capilla North Shore, 10 Chestnut Street, Peabody, el viernes 28 de marzo de 10:00 a. m. a 12:00 p. m. Se celebrará un servicio de oración al mediodía. El servicio concluirá con el entierro de Gladis en el Cementerio Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
