Gladys Alexander Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 30, 2025.
Gladys Mae Alexander was born to Robert and Lillian Mentzel on March 13, 1926 at St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Gazzier. Recently celebrating her 99th year, she peacefully passed away on April 25, 2025.
Married to the love of her life, James Alexander on November 18, 1945, she was his devoted wife for 75 years and loving mother to her daughter, Kathleen Alexander and son, Gary Alexander; his wife Elba Alexander; granddaughter Ashley Mitchell; great-grandchildren Mina Geisler, Inez Geisler, Cooper Mitchell and Indy Mitchell.
A dedicated homemaker, seamstress, gardener, arts and craftsman, she brought warmth and care to everything she touched. As testament to her pursuit of perfection, each endeavor reflected her thoughtful spirit and attention to detail. In the mid-60's Gladys found the time to fulfill a dream and studied to become a LVN nurse working evening shifts at Galveston Country Hospital. Her other passion involving nature was traveling this vast country and Canada visiting numerous National and State Parks, Forests and Monuments.
Gladys was deeply loved by all who knew her. A kindhearted soul, her gentle nature and gracious presence left a lasting impact. She will be remembered fondly by many.
In her honor, there will be a graveside service.
