GLADYS ALLEN, age 86, a resident of Irving and Lake Fork, Texas, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at her daughters home in Irving. Born January 24, 1925 in Grapevine, Texas, she was the daughter of Allen W. and Ruby Lee Murff Day. Gladys was a administrative assistant at G.E. Medical Systems in Dallas, retiring after 34 years, and she was an Eastern Star member for more than 50 years. Preceded in death by her parents and the two loves of her life, Jack Allen and Jim Boase, she is survived by her daughter, Patricia Pattie Shields and husband Troy of Irving; grandchildren, Troy Shields, Jr. and Ryan Douglas; great grandchildren, Dallas, Katie, Kristin, Caleb and Alena; and by her sister, Loval Tanner. The family will receive friends at a visitation to be held at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2011 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
