Gladys (Jones) Estes, 90, of Evansville, Indiana, passed from this world on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
She grew up in Kentucky, later moving to Evansville where she met her husband, John, of 69 years. John was in the Army stationed in Germany. Gladys flew to Germany to marry him and started their life together there.
Gladys was a homemaker for many years and later went to work in medical records at St. Mary's where she retired. In retirement, Gladys and John enjoyed camping and going to auctions. Sewing was her passion. She made doll clothes for the American Girl Doll and sold them at local craft shows.
Gladys is survived by her husband, John Estes; daughters, Tammy Briedenbach (Mike) and Tonya Estes; grandson, Patrick Ryan (Shannon); sisters, Linda Vincent and Jeannie Shelton (Don); and brother, Bill Jones (Carolyn).
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lida Jones; sisters, Eula Bowman and Peggy Winterman; and brothers, Ken Jones, Emerson Jones and Gary Jones.
A celebration of Gladys' life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating. Gladys was entombed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
