Gladys LaBare Obituary

Born December 17, 1944, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Lycurgus Baxter and Madge Jacobsen Baxter Balicki. Gladys was a graduate of Dutchess Community College and Mount Saint Mary College, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
A registered nurse, she worked at Westchester Medical Center (4 North) for many years until her retirement in 2006.
She enjoyed spending time at the beach, bowling, camping, and playing bingo. Gladys loved a good cup of coffee, especially when accompanied with a cigarette.
She was a communicant of St. Peter's Parish in Hyde Park.
Gladys is survived by her seven children, Ann Littlefield (Jon) (Pete) of Hyde Park, Steven Harris (Lori) of North Carolina, and Michael LaBare (Melissa) of Virginia, Lisa LaBare (Colleen) of Florida, Robert LaBare (Valerie) of Oregon, Cherie Wilder and Janice Novak (Joe), both of Troy, NY; fourteen grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Ryan (Brianna), Tyler, Isabele, Sophie, Sara, Laura, Samantha, Alexandra, Brian, Beth, Jason, and Jennifer; twenty great-grandchildren; sister, Francine Casucci (Vincent) of Spackenkill; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Sanford; her five brothers, Griff, Raymond, Charles, Tommy, and Ed; and a granddaughter, Michelle.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 PM, on Friday, December 16th, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Saturday, December 17th, at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.
Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
In lieu of flowers, Gladys's family respectfully requests memorial donations to the Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 80 Washington Street, Suite 204, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. (www.hvhospice.org)
