She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Lawrence Labay, Jr.; sons Kurt Yackel and wife Gina, Chris Yackel and wife Jennifer, and Clay Yackel and wife Cassi; grandchildren Warren, Colton and Kyler Yackel, Meachelle Yackel, and Miranda Yackel; great grandchildren Riley and Lylah Yackel; sisters Jo Faas, Frances McKeon, Geraldine Faulkenberg, Jeanette Martignoni; brothers Raymond Krpec, Billy Krpec and Allan Krpec; and close friend Cindy Koehn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Carolyn and Patsy Krpec; and brothers Lawrence Krpec, Jimmy Krpec, Fred Krpec, Jr., and Jerry Krpec.
Visitation will be 9 am Friday, December 8, 2023 at St. John Catholic Church in Taiton, with a parish rosary being recited at 9:30 am. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am with Rev. Gabriel Oduro-Tawaih officiating. Interment will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are her sons and grandsons. Honorary bearers will be her granddaughters.
Donations in memory of Gladys Labay may be made to St. John Catholic Church or to El Campo EMS.
