Gladys Mateo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vander Plaat Funeral Home - Wyckoff on Mar. 12, 2024.
Gladys Mateo passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 95.
Gladys was born on May 13, 1928, in Union Beach, New Jersey. Gladys lived life so full of love and faith. She loved her family, her church, and all animals dearly, including the many family cats and dogs. She was happiest when out to dinner with her husband Gino, belly-up at the corner of an Italian restaurant bar, having her martini and singing along to Sinatra.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents, Arlene and George Chisman, husband Gino, her daughter Michele, and her brother George. She is survived by her two sons and daughter, along with their spouses and children, and her sister Pat.
A memorial to honor her life will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, New Jersey. The family will receive visitors from 7pm to 9pm. A church service will be hosted at the Midland Park United Methodist Church on March 16, 2024, at 10am for all those wanting to say a prayer as well. Please do not feel compelled to wear black to the services - Gladys' life was full of color and she would enjoy seeing everyone dressed up to reflect that.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Midland Park United Methodist Church via venmo at @MPUMCNJ, or mail a check to: Midland Park United Methodist Church, 269 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park, NJ 07432
Please feel free to use the tribute wall here to post your favorite picture with Gladys, or a picture of you enjoying a martini, celebrating her life.
