Gladys Winona Kinney Owens, 93, departed this earth into the arms of our Heavenly Father on August 12, 2024 surrounded by family.
Gladys was born March 24, 1931, to Farris and Ruby Lay Kinney in Van Zandt County, Texas.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Troy Owens, of 51 years. She is also preceded in death by sisters Ermaline Kinney and LaQuita Hall; a brother Glenn Kinney; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Mattie Bell Kinney; Bill and Nelda Kinney; and brother-in-law Kenneth Cauthen.
Survivors include a brother and sister in law, Roy Dewayne and Linda Kinney of Terrell; a sister-in-law, Betty Cauthen of Warren; a brother-in-law, Chester Hall of Wills Point; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Jimmy Bowker; Pam and Gordon Tiner, all of Mineola; Kay and Rich Kincl of Tallahassee. Her grandchildren who lovingly called her Teto, Mandy and Adam Moore; Russell and Samantha Bowker; Owen Tiner; SarahVi and Ryan Pate; Lacy and Jimmy Smith; Barry and Dusti Kincl. She has 12 great grandchildren, Blakeny, Canon, Beckham, Colton, Easton, Kinsler, Hunter, Mickey, Anna, Bethany, Ryan and Isaac who will miss her dearly.
Gladys could do anything. She sewed, smocked, quilted, cooked, baked, dehydrated fruits, oil painted, sculpted ceramics, fired ceramics, painted ceramics, built furniture, wove baskets, sold makeup for Mary Kay, sold all things Shaklee, taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, cooked Wednesday night supper at the church. She was a reflexologist who always knew exactly where to rub your hand or foot for pain. She ran the Sears Catalog Store alongside her husband and owned the Plaster Cove next door to Sears. But the thing that she is most remembered for and she was proudest of besides her family was keeping children in her home. She kept kids in her home for 30 years. She taught all of us to love the Lord.
Services for Teto will be November 25, 2024, at 11am at First Baptist Church Mineola.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to First Baptist Church.
