Glen Hazzard Obituary

Glen Eugene Hazzard, Seward, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 30, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Frank Dorr Hazzard and Jessie (Watts) Hazzard on November 10, 1932.

Glen graduated from Winnebago High School in 1950. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served from 1951 -1953 in the Korean War. He returned to the Family Farm.

In 1955 he married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Nelson. He customed farmed thru out Winnebago County, milked cows and managed Bucky Brand Fertilizer at Alworth. He added to the Hazzard Family Tree, put down roots of his own on the Conger Road Farm.

Glen married Barbara McCray in March of 1974 and continued dairy farming on the Hazzard Family Farm. Milking cows and tending the land in the Seward area that was always home. A steward of the land, he was a Farmer.

Glen is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Nancy (Tad) Kirby & son Tom (Carla) Hazzard. Grandchildren, Kayla (Dean) Heslop, Julie (Tony) Gasior, Heather (Ben) Wurster, Jessica (Dan) Hilby, Mandi (Chad) Rewerts, Anthony (Heather) Capriola, and Natalie (Kevin) Morrissey and 22 Great Grandchildren. All of whom he loved dearly.

Preceded in death by his Parents and siblings, Sisters Judy and Phyllis and Brother, Roger. Also preceded in death by his wife, Alma Darlene (Nelson) and daughter, Julie, who we tragically lost too soon.

Services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Seward Congregational Church, 3029 So. Pecatonica Rd, Seward, IL. Visitation 9 am-11 am. Funeral Service 11 am. Final resting place Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, 184 So. Pecatonica Road, Pecatonica, IL.
