Glen Edmond Lide

Romans 13:8 Mr. Glen Edmond Lide, the son of Edmond "June" and Thelma McLaughlin Lide, was born on September 11, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from injuries sustained in a tragic accident at work. Glen, who always had a smile for everyone, and who never met a stranger, attended the public schools in Brooklyn, New York. He migrated to Florence, South Carolina as a young adult, where he worked hard and provided for the light of his life, his family. Glen shared the brightness of his life and his love of the Lord with everyone he came into contact with. He always had an encouraging word to share and motivated those around him to do better, to be better. He was a hardworking and dedicated employee to companies such as Holiday Inn, Wellman Plastics Recycling, Heinz, and HMS Contracting. At the time of his passing, he was employed with Johnson Controls. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. If you met him, knew him, or worked with him, then you knew his "babies". He shared their pictures for all to see. In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Lide in 2009. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife and mother of his children, Kayron Lide; two daughters and a son whom he all adored, Kimberly Smith, Glenda Lide, and Marqueis Smith; the love of his life, Vanessa Johnson; his special daughters whom he adored, Vati Johnson and Katrina Byrd; his grandchildren who were the light of his heart, Keandre Ham, Emoni Smith and Isaiah Lide; special grandchildren, Jashawn McCain, Cameren Bacote, and Marley Palmer; loving nieces and nephews, Ashley Sanders Deztane Alexander, Thomas Johnson, Mitchell Carter, Malique Carter, Roy Davis, Wonya Davis, and Xavier Alexander; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
