Glen Dale Self, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and esteemed member of the community passed away on April 24, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 8, 1933 in Victory, OK to Ramon J and Velma Mae (Robinson) Self.
He led a remarkable life filled with dedication and service. He proudly served in the Army Signal Corps during his military service, embodying bravery and patriotism. Following his time in the military, Glen forged a successful 40+ year career as a Data Technician for SWB/AT&T Telephone. His commitment to his work was unmatched, and his expertise was valued by all who knew him.
Glen's legacy extends beyond his professional achievements, he was a member of The Prime Timers organization at First Baptist Church in Gilmer and Dulcimer Club in Pittsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Glen is survived by his wife, Maurine (Stidham) Self of Gilmer; son, Daryl Self and wife Kathi of Tyler; daughters, Kathy Chandler and husband Mike of Lake Fork; Julie Skinner and husband Mark of Gilmer; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Lee, Amanda Harris, Ryan Acosta, Kyle Self, Stefanie Wallace and Dylan Skinner along with 8 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday April 27, 2024 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel starting at 1pm with Reverend Mike Kessler officiating, visitation will be 1 hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer.
