1944-2025
Glen Roy Shavers, age 80, of Rush, Ky, passed gently away on January 16, 2025.
Glen was born in the fall of 1944 on October 15. He was the blessing of the late Charles and Ethel Conley Shavers. Glen attended Boyd County High School and retired from Kentucky Electric Steel where he worked as a Crane Operator. Glen was a member of the Masons and Rush Lodge Past Master. He loved to spend time out on the fairways golfing. It was a place that always brought him peace. Glen was an avid Louisville Cardinal Fan. He had a friendly nature about him and never met a stranger. Glen had an unwavering faith and attended Rush Freewill Baptist Church. To know Glen was to love him. He was a devoted father and grandfather, who will be missed for many years to come. His absence leaves a void that may only be filled by the love and memories he left behind.
Glen leaves behind son Matthew Shavers and his wife Sarah of Ashland, KY, and five precious grandchildren Isaiah, Matilyn, Noah, Alex, and Payton. Also surviving is one brother Charles and his wife Pam of Catlettsburg, KY,sister-in-law Doris Shavers, one brother-in-law Joe Salyers, and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Glen is reunited with his loving wife of over 50 years, Tillie Hicks Shavers, one daughter Melissa Shavers, three brothers Frank Shavers and his wife Evelyn, John Shaffer and his wife Barb, and Vanis Shavers,and one sister Mary Lou Salyers.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at the Rush Masonic Lodge. Visitation begins at 1:00pm. Green Hills Lodge, with the assistance of Rush Lodge, will hold Masonic services at 2 PM.
