"Some people live in a town - others help build its soul."
William "Billy" Cornette, age 58 of
Catlettsburg, KY, passed peacefully away surrounded by the love of his family at home on February 7, 2026.
William, affectionatly known as Billy was born in the fleeting days of spring in 1967, on June 15th He was the blessing of the late Charles and Janet Lee Coffee Cornette. Billy was a 1985 graduate of Boyd County High School and retired in 2025 from Rumpke.
Billy planted his roots deep in the community where he was raised and to him Catlettsburg was more than just his home. His devotion to his community and his love for its people was unwavering. From a young age, Billy understood what it meant to serve those living in his small community. He joined the Catlettsburg Fire Department at 15 years old, served and protected the people with the Catlettsburg Police Department for over 3 years, and served on the city council for over 20 years. He was no stranger in this town and as the days pass, the community will feel the void of his passing. Billy was the kind of man you could count on for anything. He was selfless, loving, and full of laughter and smiles. Billy would do anything for anyone in need.
Outside of his duty to the city, Billy enjoyed the little things in life, Hunting with his children and grandchildren, spending time with family and friends , and watching the Cats play. Like most from the Blue Grass, He was an avid UK fan. Billy faith was steady and strong. He was a member of the Southside Church of the Nazerene. It was a place where he felt at peace and close to God. His family finds peace knowing his suffering is over and that he is enjoying his Heavenly Reward.
Billy held so many titles in life, but none were more precious to him than the ones his family gave to him, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He loved his family dearly and he cherished the moments they shared together, making precious memories. It is in these memories that his legacy will live on throughout generations to come. He will live in the stories they tell, and in every mention of his name throughout the city he loved so much.
