Glen Earl Stuckel, 90, of Louisville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1935, Glen lived a life guided by love, faith, service, and integrity. A graduate of Southwest High School and an Eagle Scout, he carried the values of Scouting throughout his life and later served as Boy Scouts Lincoln Heritage – Seneca District Membership Chairman, reflecting his lifelong commitment to youth and community. Glen served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1956 as a Nike Launcher Control Operator at Ft. Tilden, New York, appearing in the original NIKE Ajax training films and earning commendation for his bravery during a hurricane that threatened military equipment. After his service, he attended Washington University in St. Louis, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He was later recognized as an Outstanding Engineering Alumnus. Upon graduation, Glen joined Laclede Steel Company, eventually becoming sales manager of the Louisville office. In 1977, he left to pursue his passion for building, founding Glen E. Stuckel Builder, Inc., and Glen E. Stuckel Real Estate, and partnering in several other custom home building and remodeling companies. Glen became an award-winning builder and respected industry leader, serving as President of the Home Builders Association of Louisville and the Kentucky Home Builders Association, Vice President of the National Association of Home Builders, and Kentucky State Representative to the NAHB Executive Committee. His service extended across countless committees at the local, state, and national levels. He was twice named Home Builder of the Year in Louisville and once for Kentucky, Remodeler of the Year in both Louisville and Kentucky, built 19 "Homerama" Show homes-winning the "Grand Award" several times, and received the HBAL Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. In 2003, Glen was elected as an inaugural member of the Louisville Metro Council and was honored to serve District 17 until 2019. Known for his integrity, compassion, and tireless dedication, he served on and chaired various council committees, always seeking ways to strengthen his community. Glen championed parks, dog parks, community gardens, sidewalks, and libraries, including the Northeast Regional Library, and played key roles in the widening of Westport Road, the Hounz Park renovation, and the Malcolm Chancey Elementary playground. In recognition of his lifelong leadership and service, he was honored in 2016 as one of Louisville's 100 Most Influential Leaders. In 2021, the driving range at Long Run Park was named the Glen Stuckel Driving Range to commemorate his contributions to Louisville's golf courses and the city as a whole. Glen was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of St. Louis, 32nd degree, and a Mason for 60 years with Willis Stewart Masonic Lodge #224. He was also a member of the Kosair Shrine Club for 58 years. Additionally, Glen served as an active member of the Kosair for Kids Board of Directors for more than 15 years and was elected as an Emeritus member in recognition of his devotion and service to children. In addition to the many leadership roles already mentioned, Glen devoted himself to countless other boards, committees, and causes-far too many to list in full. Among them, he was an active member of Hurstbourne Christian Church, where he served as a Shepherding Elder, on the Administrative Council and Worship Committee, and as a representative to the Eastern Area Community Ministries. He also served on the Boards of Directors for Visually Impaired Preschool Services and the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame. Glen taught construction and real estate classes, was a past member of the Louisville Downtown Rotary Club and the Middletown Lions Club, and volunteered with organizations such as the WHAS Crusade for Children, Scout-A-Rama, JCPS Everyone Reads Program. Earlier in life, he brought joy to children and families as "Rags" the clown-magician, performing in hospitals, nursing homes, and churches. Guided by his faith, Glen's generosity and steadfast commitment to serving God by serving others left an immeasurable impact on all who knew him. Above all, Glen treasured his family. He was married to Joy Loft Stuckel for 66 years; she preceded him in death, leaving a lasting legacy of love, devotion, and a life deeply shared together. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Stuckel and Bonnie Worley Stuckel, and his brothers, Don and Joe Stuckel. He is survived by his children, Glen Stuckel Jr. (Valerie), Rev. Kristina Stuckel, and Susan Robertson (Jim); grandchildren, Joshua, Justin (Macey), Jeremy, Jared (Kristina), Braylon, Leland, Jonnae, and Maria; great-grandchildren, Kortlyn, Brady, Layna, Lyvia, Xavier, Xander, Elijah, Kolsyn, Bentley, Landon, and Azalea; his sister-in-law, Anne Stuckel; his in-laws, Joyce Loft and Charles and Janet Anderson; and many extended family and friends. A Masonic service will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., with a Celebration of Life at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Hurstbourne Christian Church, 601 Nottingham Parkway, Louisville, KY 40222. A luncheon will follow. Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown has been entrusted with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hurstbourne Christian Church or Kosair for Kids.
