Glenda Gaye (Nelson) Goedeke, 76, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2025 at her home in Daniels, WV, peacefully showered with love by her family, following a long illness.
Ms. Goedeke was a very well-respected and loved educator for over 30 years. Her love for the profession and the children she taught was unparalleled and she will be missed by many.
Ms. Goedeke was an avid pet lover. Throughout her life, she advocated for all types of animals ranging from the stray kitten that purred in her ear when she scooped it up to the cows in the field that ran as fast as they could when they saw her enter the field. From Duke and Max to her dear Hanna and finally her newest addition, Spartan, these gentle giants loved their momma and were her personal companions.
Ms. Goedeke was born on March 23, 1948 to the late Lawrence and Helen Nelson. She spent her life devoted to her family; she was a loving aunt and sister. Ms. Goedeke is survived by her older sister, Sharon Hutchinson and younger sister, Janice (Roger) Burnette; loving nieces and nephews: Michelle (Ed) Waters, Kenneth (K.C) (Ashley) Hutchinson, Jennifer (Bryan) Bowen, Anna Marie Ingram, Wesley (Krista) Ingram, Matthew (Jennifer) Burnette, Michael (Morgan) Burnette, and Susan Ingram; great nieces and nephews: Jeremy (Nikki) Waters, Jessica Waters, Mikayli Ingram, Daisy Hutchinson, Alexandra Bowen, Dalton Ingram, Zane Bowen, Abigail Ingram, Olivia Ingram, Kinley Burnette, Hayden Knowles, Harper Knowles, Kenner Hutchinson, Dillon Ingram, Hannah Knowles, Karsyn Burnette, Maddox Burnette; great-nieces and nephews: Levi Waters, Stella Dozier, Jackson Waters, and Kolten Hutchinson.
