Glenda Kay Mercer, 69, of Atchison, KS, passed away Friday June 20, 2025, at Atchison Senior Village.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison, KS. Memorials are suggested to Multiple Sclerosis Society and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.
Glenda was born August 4, 1955, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Glen and Winifred (Linden) Chapin. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1974. Glenda was a cook for Atchison Hospital for a couple of years, but her main role in life was raising her kids and taking care of the home.
Glenda married Randal Mercer on September 14, 1974. He preceded her in January 2010. Survivors include two sons, Jeremy and Jonnalyn Mercer, Atchison, KS, Jason Mercer, Paola, KS, siblings, Robert and Shirley Carter, Omaha, NE, Derrill Carter, St. Joseph, MO, Don Chapin, Shawnee, KS, Phil and Regina Chapin, Shreveport, LA, Barb Taylor, Leavenworth, KS, grandchildren, Kyle Mercer, Savannah, Austin, Hunter, nieces and a close friend Cindy Harden.
She was also preceded by parents, a sister Sharon Chapin and a grandchild Ash Mercer.
