MUNCIE – Kenneth Ray Mercer, 69, passed away early Sunday morning, September 28, 2025 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born on February 28, 1956 in Muncie, the son of Dallas and Caroline V. (Stevens) Mercer and attended Muncie Southside High School. He served his country honorably in the US Army from 1971-1981.

Kenneth worked as a truck driver for 17 years and as a forklift operator at Sandy's Corporation for 10 years.

He was a talented woodworker and used burnt wood techniques to make signs. He enjoyed playing chess and loved sports, especially the Pacers, Colts and the Chicago Cubs. Kenneth also dearly loved all animals, including his 2 dogs, Happy and Andy and his 3 cats, Tiger, Sassy and Taz.

Surviving are his fiancé and companion of 15 years, Rosemary Rodriquez of Muncie; his "family", Ashley, Cameron and Aiden Wager, all of Muncie; special friends, Mike, Teresa, Brandi, Andrew and Amanda Goodman, Tyler King (Jamie), Luke Crouch, David and Tammy May, Gary and Brooklyn Phillips, all of Muncie; neighbors, Eddie Fields and Brandon (Clarrisa) Wright, both of Muncie; two sisters; several cousins; and sister-in-law and brother-law, Roberta and Juan Quntanilla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Terry Dickson.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary, Washington Street Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Graveside services will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery.
