MUNCIE – Carol Sue Templin, 89, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 30, 2025 at Signature Health Care after an extended illness.

She was born on August 25, 1936, to LeRoy and Sarah Davisson Templin. A lifelong resident of Muncie, she attended Riley Elementary and McKinley Junior High, and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1954.

She obtained a bachelor's degree (1958) and a master's degree (1963) in Elementary Education from Ball State Teachers College (now Ball State University).

She taught at Muncie Community School Corporation from 1964 to 1998.

Sue used her many talents to enjoy life and serve her community. Upon retirement, she volunteered for many organizations, including but not limited to: Motivate Our Minds, the Buley Center, and the Forest Park Senior Citizens Center. She served on the boards of United Day Care and Prevent Child Abuse, and Mental Health America of Delaware County. She also taught classes for Delaware County Community Corrections.

She was a 2012 recipient of the VIVA (Very Important Volunteer Award).

She was a member of the Muncie Central High School Alumni Association, the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and the Delaware County Retired Teachers Association. She was active in the League of Women Voters and served as a staffer for the late state representative Tiny Adams.

She enjoyed traveling, acting in local theatre productions, and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and beloved pets Henry, T.R., Evie, Buddy, Winnie, and Sadie.

She is survived by many friends and several nieces and nephews: Robert Templin Greenville, SC; Mary Ann Templin Wilson (husband Richard) Greenwood, SC; Sarah Vaughn Newton (husband Phil) Killeen, TX; John Vaughn (wife Julie) LeHigh Acres, FL; David Miller (wife Debra) West Union, SC; Mark Miller (wife Dawn) Yorktown, IN; Sherri Beaty, Muncie, IN; Phil Miller (wife Sue), Muncie, IN; Andrew Templin (wife Pam), Concord, CA; Tim Templin (Logansport, IN), and Kylee Templin, Fairmount, In.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow services at Tomlinson Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025.
