Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home in Austin/Round Rock on Mar. 24, 2023.
Glenda Maureen Davee Morrison passed peacefully from this earth on March 22, 2023. As she entered the gates of heaven, the love of her life and husband of 51 years met her there and took her into his arms once again.
Glenda was born on June 23, 1945 to E.J. "Pete" Davee and Jewel Tomme Davee. She moved to Round Rock at the age of one, where she spent the rest of her life. Glenda grew up attending Round Rock schools and graduated from Round Rock High School in 1963. Throughout her high school years, she was a cheerleader and won many awards and honors (Miss March of Dimes, RRHS Highest Ranking Girl Graduate, RRHS Most Beautiful, RRHS Most Studious – which is a shock to no one). But the greatest "award" she won in high school was meeting Ron Morrison. As studious as she was, Glenda probably had her head in a book and hadn't noticed Ron at first. But he noticed her and he put the plan in motion to get her a job at Leigh Motors, where he worked, so that he could offer her a ride to work. Slick move, Ron. It worked. They were married on July 17, 1965 and spent 51 wonderful years together until Ron's passing in 2016.
If asked to describe Glenda in 3 words, they would be Christian, teacher, and mentor. Her faith was so important to her and she loved sharing her faith with anyone she could. She lived her life sharing her love of Jesus and wanting to bring others to know Him.
If you took accounting at Round Rock High School in the late 1970's, Glenda was very likely your teacher. She loved teaching her students accounting, but more than that, she loved being a positive impact on their lives. She was the leader of the Future Business Leaders of America organization at Round Rock High School and took her students on various trips across the country as she had national officers in her group at RRHS. Even after leaving teaching, Glenda kept relationships with many of her students and was so proud of their accomplishments in life. One student mentioned that "she was more than our teacher, our leader of FBLA, she was our mom." After leaving teaching Glenda continued to mentor so many others throughout all walks of her life. Whether that be at church, at work, or through her relationships in the Round Rock community. Although Ron and Glenda never had children, there are many people who can say that they treated them like their own.
In 1981, Ron and Glenda opened Morrison Auto in Round Rock and Glenda spent her time in her tucked away office crunching numbers. If you were ever late in paying, Glenda would find you and get that payment. She ran that place like a well oiled machine, often to keep her procrastinating husband on task.
Throughout the years, Glenda participated in many events with friends. She hosted a weekly prayer group for years. She was an avid reader and loved her book club. Spending times with her friends in these groups brought her so much joy.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, E.J. and Jewel Davee, and her husband, Ron Morrison.
Glenda is survived by her "like a daughter" niece, Brooke Hailey. Her sisters Kay Davee (Brian Rebuck) and Geri Davee. Nephew and niece, Dewayne and Roxanne Balusek and niece Amber Koepke (Joey). She was "Aunt Deer" to two special little boys, Hayes and Ford Koepke. She loved getting to watch Hayes and Ford participate in their sporting events and would light up when they walked in the room. Throughout Glenda's final years, she was suffering from Alzheimer's. It takes a village to give the best love and care to someone as they struggle with that disease. There are no words to express how grateful we have been to her best friend, Vicki Brevell, who made it her mission to keep Glenda active and social and loved her so well. To her very special friend and caregiver, Sandra Robinson, who would take her riding around, to get pedicures, and would sit and talk about the Bible. And her dearest friend Carol Miller who provided so much loving support to Glenda's family. Thanks also to the staff at A Touch of Home Assisted Living who took care of Glenda in her final months.
Glenda's family and friends are truly heartbroken at her sudden passing. We are so thankful for the memories she gave us, and even the bossiness she forced on us. If you asked her, she had the right answer for everything. But more than anything, we are so thankful for her that she no longer has to suffer from Alzheimer's and that she is once again with the love of her life.
In lieu of flowers, we know Glenda would appreciate donations to organizations close to her heart. The Round Rock Area Serving Center – Capital Campaign Commitment, Alzheimer's Disease Research (https://donate.
