It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenda Rose Watkins, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on November 28th, 2024, at the wonderful age of 83. She was born in Delhi, Louisiana in 1941 where she attained her southern charm. Glenda was known for her hugs, her love for her church and congregation and simply the opportunity to “poke the bear” (aka Pastor) on occasion. She was well known among many for her delicious pecan pie. Her warmth, compassion, and dedication to friends and family was her strength. She was actively involved with multiple youth groups like the Cub Scouts, for example. She loved to follow her husband Charles around the country, dragging her boys with her, during his military exercises and go camping with the children nearby. When Charles was home, she loved to go out on the boat. Her biggest sports events were playing volleyball in her youth and then became a “serious” and devout Colt’s fan (don’t get in front of the TV). She was a devoted Lab Tech and Medical Assistant for over 21 years at IU/Methodist Family Practice Clinic, retiring in 2001. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones.
Glenda is survived by her husband, Charles; her children, Gary (Mary), Charlie (Peggy), and James (Molly); her grandchildren, Jonathan (Kaitlyn), Joe (Staci), Taryn, Christina (Chad), Alyssa, Michael, Jacob, Austin (Rianon), Sammy, and Tressia; her great-grandchildren include Brody, Raevyn, Braelyn, Brinley, Breanna, Camden, Josie, Aiden, Emma, Caden; her siblings preceded in passing, sisters, Aletha Jane, Viva Dell, Mary Louise, Jean Snelling, Addie Cleo, Evelyn Marie, Blanche Elouise, and her brothers Edward “Bud” Raymond and William “Billy” Thomas.
All family and friends are welcome to attend Glenda’s celebration of life that will be held at Northside Baptist Church.
