It is with great sadness that the family of Glenn Everette Cox "Ickey Boo" announces his passing on March 8, 2024. Sunrise for Glenn began on 10/25/1953 in Roanoke, Virginia and remained a lifelong resident of the area.
Glenn was well respected in his trade of work and was very well known for and proud to be the 'York Dr.' Glenn touched the lives of so many with his kindness and wisdom. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke everyone listened. He lived a life of integrity and compassion. He enjoyed many hobbies and activities. Glenn loved dogs, motorcycles, camping, traveling, boating, and tending to his bird feeders. Glenn was also a incredible photographer and an amazing cook.
He was preceded in death by his parents Genevieve and Everett Cox; sister, Joan Divers; brother-in-law, Tony Matherly; granddaughter, Taylor Paden.
Glenn will be lovingly remembered by his wife Karen Cox of 41 years; daughter, Tracy Paden (Bruiser); grandchildren, Kelsey (Justin), and Isaah Paden; great-grandchildren Mason Woods, Kylee Woods; mother-in-law Hilda Glovier; sister-in-law Lynette Santore; brother-in-law Jeff Matherly (Debbie); father-in-law Lee Matherly; sister, Diane Cox; brother, Randy Asberry (Susan); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Glenn leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and cherished memories that will be carried in the hearts of those left behind. The impact he made on our lives will forever remain. May he rest in eternal peace. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks for all the expressions of love and support from our extended family, dear friends, and neighbors.
Services will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel, with interment following services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm Friday, March 15, 2024, at Simpson Funeral Home. The family will have a reception following the interment at the Cox Residence. Buddy & I send our condolences to sweet Karen. We met Glenn & Karen in an RV park in North Carolina a few years ago & looked forward to seeing them each year. We will always remember their kindness & generosity. May God comfort Karen and the family.

Glenn was an amazing person to know and an inspiration to all that worked with him, from the York factory to the branches in worked out of. He was everything a man should be. He surely will be remembered and missed.
