Glenn Marlin, age 70, of Beverly, formerly of New Jersey, passed away on January 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, with the love of his life, his wife, Susan Stackpole-Marlin, by his side.
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, Glenn was the son of the late Maurice and Eileen (Kassenoff) Marlin. He was raised and educated in New Jersey before following his lifelong passion for visual storytelling that took him to Graham Junior College in Boston where he studied camera and lighting work-an interest that would shape both his career and his identity.
Glenn had a true artist's eye and an innate curiosity about how light, movement, and perspective could tell a story. As a freelance cameraman, he immersed himself in every aspect of camera and lighting work, bringing both technical precision and creative instinct to each project. Glenn was a mentor to many of his colleagues who admired his dedication and professionalism while looking forward to his sense of humor that brought levity to tough jobs.
His career spanned a wide range of work, from concerts and large-scale live events to highly specialized medical and surgical educational productions, including OR-Live. He proudly lent his talents to Boston Pops performances and the City of Boston's annual Fourth of July celebrations, capturing moments that became lasting memories for countless viewers.
Glenn also worked with BBC News at CNN, where he was part of a first-responder news crew during the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York City--a role that reflected both his professionalism and his commitment to documenting history as it unfolded.
Outside of work, Glenn's love for film never faded. He enjoyed watching movies, often analyzing the camerawork with enthusiasm. He was also a devoted fan of all Boston sports. He loved attending comedy shows and concerts, and he and Susan especially cherished their travels to Mexico, taking yearly trips to Playa del Carmen.
Glenn was a loving uncle who took genuine interest in the lives of his nieces and nephews, always ready with encouragement, humor, and thoughtful conversation. His presence at family gatherings was steady and warm, and he will be remembered for the quiet ways he showed up for those he loved.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was predeceased by his brother, Harold Marlin. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Susan; her large and loving extended Stackpole family; and many cousins whom he cherished deeply and thought of as siblings-relationships marked by lifelong closeness, shared history, and unwavering affection-as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
As a friend posted in response to Glenn's passing: "They say the cameraman never dies-they just get a better view. Glenn is likely capturing the best footage heaven has ever seen."
An open house Celebration of Life will be held on February 5, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at a private residence in Winchester. Those who wish to attend are asked to contact Susan via text, via a private message to Susan or Glenn's Facebook account, or to reach out to the loved one with whom they are most familiar with for additional details.
Please, no flowers. If desired, donations in Glenn's memory may be made to In Focus Youth Filmmaking at The Cabot https://thecabot.org/community/in-focus/
