Glenn Winkler

Glenn Winkler, 80, passed away on July 12, 2023.
He was born on August 24, 1942 in New Bielah to Herbert
and O'tillie (Christen) Winkler, and the three of them
shortly thereafter moved to Houston. He held many fond
memories of visiting his Grandparents (Otto and Romilda Christen)
and hunting deer and rabbits with his Uncles Leo, Milton, and Milroy.
At twelve years of age, he contracted polio and needed to wear painful
leg braces for several months.
He worked at Sears in Houston for 47 years as an appliance repairman.
There he met and married Gladys Gebauer and they were married
for 39 years. After retiring from Sears they moved back to New Bielah.
He was a most faithful husband and later faithful caregiver for many years
after she contracted Alzheimers.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and gardening and canning and repairing vehicles
and any mechanical device. He was extremely knowledgeable on a wide range of
subjects and was the ultimate do it yourselfer before that became a thing. Occasionally,
when his tractor just wouldn't run, he'd call his favorite nephew Dennis for help. The
family is very grateful for the excellent care he received while
at Vibralife Rehabilitation Center in Katy and at TLC in Columbus.
He is survived by his stepchildren Linda Neiser of Pearland,
Tim Gebauer and wife Karen of Katy, and Jay Gebauer of New Bielah along with five
Grandchildren Brian Neiser (and Leti) of Irving, Jason Neiser (and Karen) of Houston,
Wendy Hartshorn of Ovalo, Timmy Gebauer (and Lucia) of Fulshear, Holly Lauritzen (and Brad)
of College Grove, TN, along with numerous Great Grandchildren and nephews
and nieces.
Visitation will be at the Trinity Church in New Bielah on
Saturday July 22nd at 1PM.
A celebration of life will follow at 2PM.
A reception will follow after that.
The pallbearers will be Brian Neiser, Jason Neiser, Timmy Gebauer,
Noah Neiser, John Paul Neiser, and Chase Lauritzen.
