Gloria Renee "Narnin" Applegate, 74, of Pampa, Texas, gave up her fight when Jesus called her name on the evening of Thursday, February 13, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Her family ensured she spent her final moments at home, fulfilling her desire to meet her maker there.
Born on August 26, 1950, to Willie and Antonia Garcia in Hargill, Texas, Gloria was a caring and devoted individual throughout her life. After a year of dating, she married Bo on August 27, 1976, in Petersburg, Texas. She had a few small jobs, including working at Braum's, Allsup's, and Texas Instruments. However, her main calling was being a mother and housewife, roles in which she excelled, demonstrating immense care and devotion to her family.
Gloria cherished her church family and enjoyed bunko night at church. Known for her green thumb, she could grow houseplants to impressive sizes. She loved garage sales, shopping at Hobby Lobby, and watching favorite TV shows like "Little House on the Prairie", "Gunsmoke", and "The Rifleman". Outdoor activities such as sitting outside, walking, camping with her family, and having cookouts brought her joy. Her personality was vibrant; her moods were known to influence those around her. Gloria had a sweet side, especially when it came to doting on her grandchildren, and she fought bravely till the end.
In heaven, she was anxiously greeted by her husband, Maynard "Bo" Applegate; her parents, Willie and Antonia; her grandson, Patrick Nichols; twin great-granddaughters, Sophia and Paige Nelson; great-grandson, Brennan Likes; and her two brothers, Joe and Richard Garcia, and three sisters, Eva, Lori, and Isabell Garcia.
Gloria leaves behind a legacy cherished by her son, Mark Applegate and his wife, Lou of Panhandle; three daughters, Patsy Bridwell and her husband, Brian of Pampa, Brenda O'Dell of Woodward, OK, and Amy Rosalez and her husband Johnny of Pampa. She is also survived by three brothers, Adam Garcia and his wife Juanita of Anton, TX, Henry Garcia of Lubbock, and David Garcia and his wife Melissa of New Deal, TX; three sisters, Tammy Delacruz and her husband Willie of Spade, TX, Barbara Garcia of Anton, TX, and Susan Garcia of Anton, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her beloved cat Tigger, and an extended family of nieces, nephews, and other loved ones who will greatly miss her.
Pending at this time are the Celebration of Life Memorial services. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their beloved to Winegeart Funeral Home.
For those wishing to honor Gloria's memory with a donation, the family suggests contributions be made to her church home, The Carpenters Church, 639 Barnes Street, Pampa, TX 79065. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Gloria Renee "Narnin" Applegate, please visit our Tree Store.
