Gloria Gale Bryan of Shreveport, La. peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the age of 77. Gloria will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Gloria was born on March 6, 1947 in Springfield, Co. to Duane and Olive Ackley. Friendly, smart and kind to all, Gloria graduated from Walsh High School, Walsh, Co. in 1965, where she was named 1963 Queen. She went on to graduate from Panhandle State College, Goodwell, Okla. in 1969, where she received numerous honors and recognition, including homecoming queen. Gloria met her husband, Robin W. Bryan, in Amarillo, Texas in 1969. They went on to marry on June 6, 1970 and welcomed three beautiful daughters and five cherished grandchildren. Their marriage was full of love and spanned more than five decades. Together, they enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and taking care of the land. They also took pleasure in spending time with their family and friends, attending Sunday School with the Questers, and joining social gatherings and services with all friends at First Methodist Church Shreveport where they were members for more than 50 years. Gloria worked as a teacher, stepping back to raise her daughters full time during their younger years. During this time Gloria volunteered in the children's ministry at First Methodist Church Shreveport and actively served in the PTA as well as room mother where her daughters attended school. She later served as a librarian at the Shreve Memorial Library before retiring to begin her favorite role as a loving grandmother. Known for her compassion, gentle strength, and beauty, Gloria will be most remembered by all who knew and loved her for her sweet spirit and kindness. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, and Gloria could be found supporting her children and grandchildren at every game, play, competition, aerial performance, and party with a smile and thoughtful gifts. Memories of her loving and consistent presence bring great comfort to her family and friends during this difficult time. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wendelyn Kay ""Texie"" Alton. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Robin W. Bryan; daughters and their families, Mitzi (Kolby) Nix, Bryce and Karis; Summer, Noah and Nixon Knight; Tina (David) Callecod, Ellen, Nolan, Ian, and Alexandra; and her brother, Derril Ackley. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2024 at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, La. Following the service will be a visitation from 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the home of Tina Callecod, 10927 Cattail Pointe, Shreveport, La. 71106. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Gloria's life by joining the service and/or visitation. Honoring Gloria as pallbearers will be Frank Bright, Joe Hudson, David Reeder, and Jack Sharp. The family would like to thank the First Methodist Church Shreveport pastoral staff and those who delivered flowers for their visits and prayers with Gloria the last three months, as it was so meaningful to her. The family also extends deepest gratitude to Vaquetta ""V"" Hudson for stepping in this last month as one of her ""angels"" and treating her like a queen.
