Gloria Olwyn Bryson

Gloria Olwyn Bryson, 92, passed away on May 26, 2023, in Albemarle, NC. Gloria was born on December 25, 1930, in Slatington, PA, to Olwyn and Francis Breisch. She earned her RN from Reading Hospital in Reading, PA and worked as a nurse until her first child was born. In 1965, the family moved from Massena NY, to Albemarle, NC. Once all of her children were in school, she worked at Albemarle Senior High School. Gloria was a dedicated volunteer with Hospice of Stanly County, Mental Health, the hospital, Girl Scouts, and became a lay minister.
Gloria loved to cook and bake, and there was always room at the table for more people. A coffee pot and sweets were always ready for anyone to stop by. She enjoyed traveling, especially to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria was a supportive wife and a wonderful mother.
Gloria is survived by her children: son David (Camille) Bryson, daughter Ellen (Paul) Ludwig, daughter Donna (John Osborne) Bryson, son Keith (Kristie) Bryson, daughter Sheila (Jamie) Brewster, 9 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Olwyn Breisch, father, Francis Breisch, brother, Francis Breisch Jr, husband, Ian D Bryson, and daughter, Debra Barnard.
The service will be Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 am in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church, 126 W North Street, Albemarle, NC, with visitation to follow in the gym.
