Gloria was a very energetic young child and very artistic. She loved drawing. She attended Williams Elementary School in Gainesville, Florida. On special occasions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas she was usually called upon to create drawings for those Occasions. Gloria attended and graduated from Lincoln High School in Gainesville Florida. She met the love of her life, Larry Dover, who was working at Sperry Electronic Tube Division. They got married on March 14, 1964. Larry was scheduled to enlist in the Navy April 7,1964, during the Vietnam War. Their love stood the test of time.
After, Larry completed his 4-year Navy enlistment in March 1968, he returned to his initial job in Gainesville. Then, they moved to Hobe Sound in February 1969 for more promising job opportunities. There, Gloria took an interest in New Mt. Zion M.B. Church upon moving to Hobe Sound. Gloria was an active member in the church such as being in the Senior Choir and Deaconess. She also worked with Margaret Harris and Rhonda Berrian in the finance department and assisted in the after-school programs with Sister Ollie Harvey and Deacon Arthur Kitchen. Simultaneously, she pursued her A.A. degree and A.S. degree at Indian River Community College.
