Gloria Martin Dupree

Gloria Jean Martin Dupree, affectionately known as "Big G," was born on August 30, 1957, in Abbeville, South Carolina, to the late Willie Boyce Martin and Jessie Bell Watt Martin. She peacefully passed away on December 18, 2024.
A devoted member of the Flat Rock A.M.E. Church, Gloria served her community selflessly. She visited the sick and shut-in, delivered meals to those in need, and provided transportation to individuals who needed assistance. Her life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family and her passion for helping others. Gloria's legacy of love, compassion, and service will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her. Her commitment to God and to making the world a better place reflected her vibrant spirit and boundless generosity.
Gloria attended Dixie High School in Due West, South Carolina, class of 1976. She worked at Erskine College for many years and also devoted herself to private housekeeping, always bringing warmth and care to every task she undertook.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever. Gloria is survived by her husband, Ray Dupree, of the home; three children: Theresa (Charles) Agnew of Ware Shoals, SC; Asia (Dewain) Bryant of Charlotte, NC; Hopey Martin of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Elizabeth (Claude) Wall and Carolyn Martin Johnson; four brothers, John (Gloria) Martin, Stanley (Tina) Martin, Daniel (Sandra) Martin, and William Martin; seven grandchildren; Alexiah, Jatavius, CJ, Zadecyn, Kamiya, Tacaria, and Romin; one great-grandchild, Nyomi; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Gloria will forever be remembered for her kind heart, enduring strength, and the immense love she shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her absence leaves an irreplaceable void, her memory will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones.
The funeral service for Mrs. Dupree will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Flat Rock AME Church, Abbeville, SC. Interment will follow at the church's cemetery.
Public Viewing: Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson.
