Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away into eternity on Sunday, August 17, 2025, into the arms of our dear savior. Age 82 years.
Jean was born on July 8, 1943, daughter of the late Richard and Ruby (Abrahamson) Meyer, in Detroit. She married Thomas E. Matula on November 1, 1974. He survives her. Jean and Tom loved to travel around the United States. Their last trip after retiring was to Hawaii. She loved going on The Caribbean Cruise some years back. Most of all, she enjoyed her trips to Colorado. Jean had fallen at the top of Pikes Peak and later at the airport going to Hawaii, nothing was going to stop her on those trips. She also enjoyed going Up North to visit with her family in Cheboygan. Tom and the kids always laughed when they heard “Jeanne Meyer is here with her family.”
Jean loved her home and really enjoyed listening to the water fall in her back yard pond. (Really Tom’s) She enjoyed swinging in the shack by the fire pit, mostly sleeping. Asked if she had a wonderful fifty years with her husband, she said yes.
Jean will be sorely missed by those she loved most, her husband, Thomas; daughter, Heather (Patrick) Farr; six grandchildren, Emilie, Barrett, Isabella, Brock, Jacob and Natalie; her brother, John (Debby) Meyer, Dale (Debbie) Meyer and her sister, Vickie (Nilton) Petterson.
Those gone on before her besides her parents, Richard and Ruby Meyer, her beloved son, Jeremy who passed away in 2023, her brother, Rick Meyer, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses, CNA’s and activities staff at HealthSource Saginaw. Getting her ready for daily card games and BINGO were always a happy time. Their gratitude extends to the team at Covenant Healthcare for their exceptional care of Jean and the family.
Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Glory House International Ministries, 3660 Hermansau Road. Pastor Jim House will officiate with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Road and at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are encouraged sending flowers, as Jean and Tom worked at several flower shops and owned Swan Valley Florist for many years before retirement. Memorial contributions may also be made to Glory Hose International Ministries.
Memories and condolences can be left on the obituary at the funeral home website.
