She then attended USU where she met the love of her life David Wright Maughan in a dance class. Following a short courtship, they were married on September 11, 1964 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They just celebrated their 60th anniversary together.
Gloria was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She loved the time she served as a service missionary in the Ogden Temple.
Throughout her life, Gloria was a hard worker who mastered juggling a career and her family responsibilities. While raising her children she was involved with all their activities including Jr. Posse Leaders, AQHA, Utah High School Rodeo. She loved the Miss Rodeo Utah Pageant and could not have been more proud than to see both her daughter and granddaughter crowned as Miss Rodeo Utah. She also loved her yearly trips with her daughter to Las Vegas to watch the Miss Rodeo America competition.
Gloria loved the time she spent at McKay Dee Hospital, volunteering in both the gift shop and the NICU, holding and loving the sweet little infants.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a true embodiment of resilience and love. She always had time to help someone in need. Her heart and soul were devoted to her family, nurturing them with love and warmth. She was the #1 fan to her grandchildren and their adventures, cheering them on in their football games, dance and cheer competitions, rodeo and of course queening.
Her creative side shone brightly through her hobbies. Gloria was passionate about sewing, crocheting, quilting and crafting beautiful pieces. She loved the tradition of preparing Sunday dinner every week, a cherished ritual that brought the family together around the table, celebrating love and laughter.
She enjoyed spending time in the mountains with her sweetheart, riding on their side by side as they explored nature's beauty. Whether in the mountains or the desert, those moments of adventure created memories that would live on in the hearts of her family.
Gloria is survived by her husband David, children Rod (Mindy) Maughan, Russ (Shelly) Maughan and Nicole (Greg) Cypers, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters Cindy (Joe) Duncan and Jana (Mike) Flaherty, sister-in-law Carmen Robison and brother-in-law Bruce Brink.
