Gloria “Jean” Summers of Sullivan, Missouri was born on February 20, 1952, in Washington, Missouri to James and Delma (Huff) King. She left this life on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri at the age of 71.
Jean grew up in St. Clair, Missouri. She graduated from St. Clair High School, then she would obtain a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and master’s degree in education from Drury University. She worked as an Assistant Registrar at Drury University, Registrar at Cox School of Nursing and later retiring as the Registrar from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City.
Jean enjoyed going to flea markets, riding her jet ski, watching the Hallmark channel and Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jean is preceded in death by her father James King; stepfather Percy Pascoe; one infant brother Killis King; one sister Brenda Conrad; one nephew William Harris.
Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her two sons Ryan and wife Tonya Summers of Sparta, Jeff and wife Rhea Ann Summers of Sullivan; four grandchildren Megan Summers of Republic, Baily Summers of Canyon, Texas, Samuel and Micah Summers of Sullivan; mother Delma (Huff) Pascoe of Cuba; one sister Sherry and husband Wayne Wycoff of St. James; one brother-in-law Kent Conrad of Kansas City; one niece Miranda Austerman of Lee Summit; two nephews James Perry Wycoff of Ozark and Christopher Harris of Denver, Colorado; cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Moore, officiating.
Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Londell, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Dementia Society of America of National Kidney Foundation.
