Glynis Eonette McBean

Glynis Eonette McBean fondly known as Gem, was born on June 19, 1954, in Georgetown, then British Guiana, now Guyana, South America.
She was the first child of Eustace and Beryl McBean, mother of three sons - Damian, Michael and Martin.
Grandmother of three boys - Ayden, Maximus and Mosiah. Sister of Dawna, Monix, Nordis (deceased), Vince, Lon, Villaire and Mennon McBean.
Gem spent her early years at Charlestown and Newtown, Kitty, Georgetown and attended St. Angela's primary school, Georgetown where her mother Beryl taught for several years.
She attended Bishop's High School and completed Advanced Level Studies at St. Rose's High School, Georgetown. After graduating High School she worked at Chase Manhattan Bank, Georgetown as a loan officer until 1979 when she migrated to Brooklyn, USA.
Gem attended New York University, completing a Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration and later worked at the university as a student affairs administrator for several years. She was later appointed at Visiting Nurse Association of Brooklyn (VNAB) as a Patient Care Coordinator. She completed a Master's Degree in Health Care Administration from Audrey Cohen College, New York before relocating from New York to New Jersey in 2004.
Gem continued her career with administrative positions at several pharmaceutical companies including Mallincroft, NPS pharmaceuticals and Stemline Therapeutics. At the time of her passing she was a Regulatory Affairs officer at Stemline Company, New York.
Gem was deeply spiritual, kind, calm, compassionate, devoted to family and friends, enjoyed music (played guitar in her early years), traveling and holistic living.
She was beyond special, a true earth angel, and will forever remain in our hearts as our beloved sister, mother, grandmother and friend.
A Celebration of Glynis's Life will be held from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at The Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home located at 275 West Milton Ave in Rahway, NJ 07065.
