Ms. Glynis Metsu Speight

On March 10, 2025, Glynis M. Speight of Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 65, lost her fight with cancer at her home. She touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her as well as a great friend to those she was close to.
She graduated from E.E. Smith High School in 1977, while raising her first son, working multiple jobs in the Fayetteville area to support her family. She started working at Len Care nursing home before becoming a part-time employee of Sam's Club while pursuing a career at the Fayetteville Police Department which she obtained on June 19, 2000. She started as a Police Records Clerk and worked throughout the years as an Office Assistant II in various units around the department. Glynis retired from the Fayetteville Police Department on November 1, 2021, and was proud she was able to give 21 years of service to the department.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ossie Fox, father, Wade Burns, brother, Darrell Burns, and sister, Cassandra Morris. She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother: Louise Burns of the home; one brother: Terence Q Burns of Fayetteville, North Carolina, two devoted sons: William J. (Shana) Bell III, and Derick L. Bell, both of Fayetteville, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her niece: Sade Morris of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Glynis' life was a testament of love and resilience, and her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Though deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the lives she enriched and the love she shared so freely. She was a fighter till the very end and will be truly missed.
