George L. Minnick Jr, loving known as Pal, passed away on Monday Nov 3rd peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
George was born on August 9, 1962 to George Sr and Sherlyn T. Reed. George grew up in Muncie and attended school there. He did a lot of work as a carpet installer for many years, and was always proud of his work.
George had a lot of interests, but you could usually find him playing pool and hanging out with his friends. His most beloved past time was fishing on the lake with his best friend Gary. There was nothing George loved more than spending time with his family and friends and always loved telling his stories to anyone who would listen. Family gatherings were never complete without George's Elvis impersonation.
George is survived by his siblings Larry Minnick and Darlene Murphy and husband Gary. His nephews Michael Hoover (Amy), Dillion Minnick, and David Minnick and his niece Peyton Dunham (Meagan). Leaving behind to carry on his Elvis impressions and his love of fishing are his great nieces and nephews Kali, Cyrus, Keigan, Katarina, Rilynn, Meera and Leon.
George is proceeded in death by his parents, George and Sherlyn, his brother Jeff Minnick, His Grandparents and numerous Aunts and Uncles. We are comforted to know that he is reunited with them.
George did not want a traditional funeral service, instead wanting his family, as soon as the weather is nice, to all get together and celebrate his life together out at his favorite fishing spot.
The family would like to thank Hospice, especially his nurse April, Marjorie and Chaplain Phil who helped take such great care of him for the last year. He looked forward to their visits, they truly made his day when he got to see them. His sister was his caregiver for the last several years of his life, and being able to stay with her and Gary and be a part of family dinners and get togethers was the thing he loved the most. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
