Mrs. Goldie June Spears, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 09, 2025 in Piedmont, Alabama. A funeral service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Ingram officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Spears; son, Ricky Keith Young; daughter in law, Connie Young; parents, Sherman and Leola Hart and sisters Peggy Hart and Kathleen Terry. She is survived by her sons, Roger Young of Section and Randy Young (Wendy) of Piedmont and her granddaughter, Carson Young, the joy of her life. Goldie was born in Piedmont, Alabama to Sherman and Leola Hart, and lived in Piedmont most of her life. She enjoyed traveling, spending portions of her life in Simi Valley, California, Fort Lauderdale, and Dania Beach, Florida. Goldie graduated from Piedmont High School, and retired from Doctor's Hospital of Hollywood, Florida. Goldie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont, a member of the Esther Sunday School class, and the Sunshine Club. A special thanks goes to the staff at Dugger Mountain Assisted Living and Piedmont Health Care Center for the care and devotion shown to her. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
