Gopichand Kapu, age 81, of Anson, TX, passed away on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, in Abilene, TX.
Public Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Private funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm.
Gopichand was born on May 15th, 1944, in Cheruvu, India, to Subbulu and Venkateswarlu Kapu. He married Vijayakumari Kapu in India. He conducted his medical training in Guntur, India. After his medical training, he moved to England with his wife and daughters. Afterward, he immigrated to the United States, where he lived briefly in New York and North Carolina before settling in Anson, Texas, with his wife and two daughters.
Gopichand was a lifelong learner and a friend to all, with a deep passion for sharing his knowledge and curiosity. Whatever the newest technology or latest intellectual topic, he was always ahead of the curve and generous with sharing his thoughts. He was generous in every way. With his time, his knowledge, and his kindness. He lived life fully, embracing each day with purpose and joy, whether proudly piloting planes, riding the motorcycles he loved so much, or spending time with those he loved, which he always prioritized. He was a loving and compassionate father and grandfather who worked tirelessly to make sure his children’s lives were secure and comfortable. As a grandfather, he was patient and kind, always eager to share wisdom and laughter with his grandchildren, fully embracing every moment spent with them. As a dedicated husband and brother, he was a pillar of strength and love for his family, always steady, dependable, and deeply devoted.
In his work as a physician, Gopichand devoted his life to serving others. He cared deeply for his patients, and he will be known for his compassion, tireless work ethic, and the respect he earned from both colleagues and the community. No one has given more. His service made a lasting impact on countless lives. Through both word and deed, he inspired those around him in so many ways. The many lives he touched and improved through his kindness and tireless dedication will carry on his memory. He will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, inner strength, and lifelong commitment to helping others.
He is survived by his two daughters, Ameeta and Rajani; his son-in-laws, Udaya Swarna and Russ Haden; his brother, Jitendra Kapu; and his beloved grandchildren, Nikita, Subash, and Avani.
The family of Gopichand wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many close friends who loved and supported him throughout his life.
