Gordon G. Foss, 84, of Soldier, IA, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek, IA. Born on December 8, 1940, in Soldier, IA, Gordon was the son of Oscar and Edith (Johnson) Foss. He spent his formative years in Soldier, where he graduated from Soldier High School.
Gordon dedicated his life to farming, passionately managing his cow/calf operation, and finding immense joy in the work that connected him to the land. He was known for his strong work ethic and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
On August 5, 1988, Gordon married Barbara Ulven in Onawa, IA.
Gordon was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dunlap, IA. His love for music was evident in his participation in a quartet and, subsequently, as a member of the Notables from Woodbine, IA, where he showcased his passion for singing and dancing. Gordon also enjoyed camping and fishing.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Barbara of Soldier, IA; and his three children: Robin, David, and Dan; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by Barb's four children; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ila (Cleo "Bud") Ping.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Jordan Township Cemetery near Soldier, IA.
