Gordon "Gordy" W. Gutsch, 76, of Altoona passed away on October 18, 2015 after a courageous fight with Alzheimer's surrounded by his wife, children and the Packers playing on TV. He was born September 5, 1939 in Eau Claire to Ralph and Maybelle (Lindsley) Gutsch. He grew up in Altoona and graduated from Altoona High School in 1957. Gordy served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961. He married Donna Ehlinger at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on October 10, 1964. Gordy worked for PDM Bridge for 36 years before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved listening to country and 50's music and watching the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. He served his community as a city councilman and was involved with the youth baseball and hockey associations. He is survived by his wife, Donna, of 51 years; three children: Becky (Al) Yoshizumi of LaCrosse, Brian (Vicki) of Altoona, and Tami (Scott) Geske of Fall Creek; six grandchildren: Keegan, Koby, Sam, Jack, Grant, and Grace; two sisters: Margie Swanson of Altoona and Gretchen (George) Carter of Eau Claire; four brothers: Douglas (Carol) of Altoona, Ramon, Jeff (Chris) of Eau Claire, and Dennis of Augusta; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Gordy is also survived by in-laws: Jerry (Pat) Ehlinger of Altoona, Eugene (Darlene) Ehlinger of Chetek, and Bob Swanson of Eau Claire. Gordy was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Ormen "Porky" and Sally Ehlinger; and sister-in-law, Mary Gutsch. The family would like to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Rose View, Crista Becker, Dr. Efrain Sueldo, Lisa Wells, St. Croix Hospice (especially nurse Diana) for the attentive and loving care they provided Gordy.
