Mr. Gordon Bryant Johnson of Lewisville, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 29, 2025, at his home at age 70. Mr. Johnson was born in Iredell County, NC, on October 3, 1954. He was the loving son of William “Burl” Johnson (deceased) and Mrs. Leona Scott Leggett of Charlotte, NC. Gordon’s love for knowledge continued throughout his life. He read the newspaper daily, keeping up with all the sports scores and stats. He graduated from Erskine College and then attended pharmacy school in Charleston, SC, where he graduated in 1978. Gordon practiced as a pharmacist for many years. Later, he graduated from Liberty University with a master's degree in Addiction Counseling. He worked as an addiction therapist until his death. Gordon was an avid Duke Blue Devil basketball fan as well as a Clemson fan. His hobbies included watching as many games as possible, spending time with his family at the beach and in the mountains, watching Jeopardy daily, and making every moment possible with his grandson, his “little buddy,” Jared. They were two peas in a pod, and the love between them was amazing and unbreakable. Gordon’s smile and laughter were contagious. Gordon is survived by his mother, Mrs. Leona Scott Leggett, of Charlotte, his son, Richard Scott Johnson of Charlotte, NC, his fiancé, Darlene Jones Hutchins of the home, his stepdaughters, Kristin Leigh Hutchins of Lewisville, NC, and Lindsay Brooke Hutchins of Denver, CO, and his grandson, Jared Allen Petron of Lewisville, NC. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church in Dobson, NC, by pastor Jeff Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jared Petron College/NC 529 Plan. Checks may be made out to Darlene Hutchins, administrator of the account.
