Gordon Eugene Newton

Gordon Eugene Newton, age 72, of Palmetto, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on July 10, 1953, in College Park, GA to the late Grady Eugene Newton and Doris Louise Newton. Gordon leaves behind a legacy of love and service to his family, friends, and community. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Cathie Newton; his children, Jason (Jolina), Matthew (Brittany), and Kevin (Amanda); and his grandchildren, Brianna, Tyler, Makenna, Mason, Addison, Jackson, and Wyatt. He is also survived by his sister, Brenda Newton (Jim), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss him. A hardworking and dedicated man, Gordon was known for his commitment to his career and family. He spent 40 years in law enforcement, proudly serving with Clayton County, Henry County, College Park Police Department, Woodward Academy and the SWAT team for over 20 years. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Gordon was a devoted husband and father. He made a point of always being there for his family, no matter the demands of his work. He had a deep love for the outdoors and spent many hours hunting, a passion he shared with his sons and grandchildren, instilling in them a love and respect for nature. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Vicki Newton. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. We take comfort in knowing that his lessons, love, and the memories we share will continue to guide and inspire us. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Dr. Stacey Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory.
