In Loving Memory of Mrs. Jessie Monica Mascoe December 30, 1939 – September 19, 2025 Jessie Monica Mascoe, fondly known as Aunt Jay, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Eudalee and Lester Howell welcomed her in to the world on December 30, 1939, in Clarendon, Jamaica. Jessie was the first-born daughter of a family of ten siblings. Jessie's love for her family and her unwavering devotion to them was evident in everything she did. Jessie's educational journey began at Crooked River Primary School and continued at Clarendon College. After her studies, she moved to Kingston, where she worked in one of the government ministries before migrating to England during the Windrush Era. Jessie trained as a stage-registered nurse and midwife, marking the beginning of a career that would span decades. In 1968, she met the love of her life, Henry Westley Mascoe. They married on September 28, 1968. Together, they built a beautiful life, in England, then New York, and later in Georgia. Jessie and Henry settled in Brooklyn, New York in the 1970's, where they raised their two children, Jason and Kimberley. Jessie was a devoted and loving mother, known for her strict discipline and emphasis on the importance of education. She continued her own education, earning a bachelor's degree from Medgar Evers College in 1988, while working full-time as a nurse at Baptist Medical Center and caring for her family. Jessie and Henry's home at 96 Interboro Parkway became a welcoming haven for family and friends, especially during their renowned New Year's Eve parties. Jessie was known for her laughter, hospitality, and strong sense of faith. A devout Christian, Jessie was an active member of St. Joseph's Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York, where she served on the Women's Auxiliary and shared her faith with all who knew her. She became a member of All Saints Anglican Church after she moved to Georgia. In her professional life, Jessie transitioned from hospital care to nursing administration with the New York State Department of Corrections, where she worked for 19 years at Rikers Island, before retiring in 2008. After retirement, she and Henry relocated to Tyrone, GA. Following Henry's passing in 2010, Jessie embraced the role of a grandmother to Jeremiah and Payton. Her love for them was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them, whether in person, during their visits or speaking on the phone. Jessie was a woman of great ambition and appreciation for the finer things in life. She traveled to five continents and saw the world in a way few will ever experience. She traveled to Malawi, South Africa, Greece, China and Japan. Her home reflected her exquisite taste. She was predeceased by her parents, Eudalee and Lester Howell; siblings Lucal, Howard, Evelyn, and Lesford; as well as her aunts Lil and Vera and cousin Elaine. Jessie is survived by her siblings David, Ewart, Leslie, Leonard, and Jacinth; children Jason and Kimberley; grandchildren Jeremiah and Payton; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and esteemed colleagues. Jessie transitioned peacefully on September 19, 2025 at the age of 85. Jessie's life was a testament to love, hard work, faith, and the importance of family. While her passing was unexpected, her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the advice she so freely gave. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will be cherished forever. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 2:00 at All Saints Anglican Church in Fayetteville, GA. Visitation will take place Saturday from 12:00 to 1:30 at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory.
